However, experts aren’t surprised by the executive’s approach.

“Good CEOs delegate decisions down to the people closest to the problem instead of routing everything through their own desk,” Jeremy Barnett, CEO and co-founder of RAD Intel, told Inc. “Staying out of the loop on purpose is a sign of trust in the team, not distance from the business. It’s also more common at well-run companies than people assume.” 

Kirby, a longtime executive, considers himself to be fairly outspoken. As a result of being intentionally kept out of the loop on certain details, he may avoid inadvertently speaking ahead of strategic timelines.
